Theyre not videos played backwards and forwards. They are just a two second burst of photos that is played backwards and forwards. If you want boomerang just set your camera to burst and have at it. Actually with burst you can do a lot more like actually edit the videos. The main thing is it does not take anything long enough to be called or considered a video!
